Join storyteller Kamini Ramachandran and Singapore Heritage Society (SHS) on a walk at the historic site of Tanjong Malang!

Among CBD skyscrapers and the construction of MRT lines, lies the early settlement of Tanjong Malang. It is hard to imagine that the area had once been a thriving settlement facing the sea, due to the extent of land reclamation today.

Only a few historic places of worship remain in the area: Foo Tet Soo Khek Temple, Masjid Haji Muhammad Salleh, and Keramat Habib Noh. What are some of the myths and stories behind these sites? What kind of offerings would have been given to the deities by worshippers? What kind of rituals would have been practiced?

The programme will consist of a non-strenuous walk through the 3 sites led by Kamini, followed by an indoor activity at the mosque. A specially curated sampler menu that intertwines with Kamini’s stories will also be served.
