The tour starts at Block 9 with the genesis of Gillman Barracks (GB). The backdrop of impending war with the preparations by the British to defend its jewel of the Far East, Singapore.  Barracks were built (including GB, etc), airbase established, large gun fortifications erected and the largest naval base this side of the world, Sembawang Naval Base built.

Which units were stationed here and who ultimately fought in the war. The approach of the Japanese troops and battles fought from Kent Ridge to GB.  The bravery of the Malay Regiment and its stand at Bukit Chandu, the retreat of the defenders to GB until the final capitulation by the Command on 15 February 1942.  The survivors became prisoners of war (POWs) and marched to Selarang Camp in Changi.

Post war, the usage of GB first as British barracks, the transfer to Singapore Armed Forces and finally the commercialisation of GB.
