Ready, set, go! Join us for a weekend of sporty throwbacks as we recreate the school sports day experience on the lawn of the National Museum! Dust off the cobwebs and throw on your old PE attire. We’ve organised a Sports Day for one and all! You can take part in a relay, hop to the finish line in a gunny sack, or play bola tin, an old school game where players knock down a stack of tins that are arranged in a pyramid using a ball. Just like Co-Curricular Activities or CCA day, you’ll also get to try out for sports like football!

Feeling competitive? Put on your gear and get ready to compete against two other teams for glory! Sign up in teams of four and participate in a relay race just like the ones we did in school on sports day. Prizes await - for a registration fee of $20, all 4 members in a team receive an exclusive Singapore HeritageFest goodie bag and a winner's medal! Do note that each team will only compete for one round.

But don’t worry, you won’t be doing all the work. Master practitioners and experts in wushu, silat and silambam will treat you to a showcase of their special skills and admirable sporting chops on the lawn of the National Museum in what we’re calling a Martial Artstravaganza!  Our special event caps off a month of activities celebrating our sporting history. Don’t stop there. Carry on your heritage journey at our special Homeground exhibition within the museum! The exhibition invites you to jalan with us and explore the best of our heritage trails and landmarks relating to our sports and public transport history.

Singapore HeritageFest

The Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) is the National Heritage Board’s signature annual outreach event that celebrates the many facets of Singapore’s diverse heritage and culture. SHF works with individuals, groups and communities to co-create programmes and offerings. This allows the festival to uncover lesser-known stories and narratives, engender a greater sense of ownership, and empower Singaporeans to safeguard and promote our shared heritage. The inaugural edition of SHF was staged in 2004, and since then, the festival has continued to provide on-site and online experiences with yearly themes that focus on different aspects of Singapore’s heritage.
