Hands up if you’ve ever been a little surly on your commute. Theatre company ETCeteras takes a look at how the passenger’s demeanour might carry over into the day of the humble taxi driver. Interactions with transport service providers like bus captains and taxi uncles, while frequent, tend to be fleeting. But some are unforgettable and have staying power, especially when interlaced with acts of kindness. A friendly commuter offering something as simple as a smile or snack can change the trajectory of a provider’s day.

Changing Shift is a fun and lighthearted play where real encounters of kindness are narrated by a taxi driver whose optimistic persona inspires passengers to rethink dilemmas and perspectives on life from within the comforting confines of his cab. Apart from shedding light on the everyday experiences and challenges faced by transport providers, the play will also trace the evolution of public transport in Singapore and the impact of modernisation on both ends of the spectrum with the rise of on demand booking services.

Note: Bring along your mats and enjoy this outdoor performance!
