In conjunction with SHF2024’s theme on Built Heritage, discover the lighter side of the Samsui women who built our nation, such as the often-misunderstood-story behind their red headscarves, the food they avoided eating, where they used to hang out and what special festival celebrations they held dear to their hearts. Join Pauline Fun, the granddaughter of a Samsui woman on a tour around Chinatown as she weaves her family story into the larger social history of these celebrated strong women figures.

Qixi Fest
Qixi Fest (七夕乞巧嘉年华) is an initiative with the community to revive and reimagine the ""wish upon the stars festival"" brought over by our foremothers to Singapore as early as in the 19th century. Inaugurated in 2023, this annual festival is curated with an emphasis on mastery of crafts, lesser known (her)story of our foremothers, and fun-filled activities that bond generations.
