Currently, there are multiple sawmills in Singapore with massive stockpiles of abandoned logs. These stockpiles are the result of felling trees for urban development. Due to a lack of infrastructure to process the logs into usable forms, and a preference for importing wood, these logs are simply left to rot.
Join us on an eye-opening tour as we discover what goes on behind the scenes—the process that goes behind turning these trees into materials for local carpenters, the history of the sawmills and their future.
This tour is part of The Local Tree Project, an initiative started in 2019 by Roger&Sons that salvages trees that have been felled for urban development. It rehabilitates these abandoned logs by turning them into durable, future-proof objects and furniture.
