Among the Lee Kong Chian Natural History’s collections are more than 100,000 animal specimens from the colonial era. These once faced the jeopardy of being lost due to insufficient and improper storage space. Mrs Yang Chang Man, a zoologist who had been in-charge of taking care of the specimens from the 1970-1990s, worked tirelessly to preserve its integrity.
Iffah Binte Iesa is a curator at LKCNHM, where she collects and preserves the genetic information of species, building on the work of predecessors, while helping future generations to understand the importance of studying and safeguarding our biodiversity heritage.
