Through Nature: A BBB Edition

by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts

The Through Nature Mini-Documentary takes its viewers on a journey through the beating heart of Singapore's Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct. With vibrant, striking visuals accompanied by informational storytelling, the video serves to educate its viewers on both the BBB of today and its origins.

Singapore has long been recognised for establishing a concrete-filled, economically-driven society from an island that once relied on street traders and settler communities. The same can be said for the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) District - an area that was once permeated with trade and immigrant populace is now the beating heart of Singapore, thriving with arts and cultural heritage. The Mini-Documentary examines the relationship between the significant institutions that remain standing in the BBB today, and the natural heritage that has supported our man-made growth through the past few decades. Focusing on key areas within the BBB Precinct - Cathay, School Of The Arts, Singapore Management University, and CHIJMES - viewers are walked through the Precinct and shown the often overlooked natural elements that make this area what it is.

This video is produced by a group of students from NAFA Arts Management students as part of the Singapore HeritageFest.
