The battle at Pasir Panjang marked one of the last battles for Singapore. The fierce battle by the Malay Regiment against the Japanese Occupation along Pasir Panjang ridge lasted for almost 2 days on 13 February 1942. In 1954, Pasir Panjang ridge was renamed to Kent Ridge. Participants will get to explore the western part of the Pasir Panjang ridge which includes part of National University of Singapore (NUS) campus that was built on the old battleground, a now inaccessible 1930s military outpost, the forest along Kent Ridge Road, and the old stone marker that commemorates the battle. Participants will also get to learn more about the flora and fauna found at the ridge and participate in a bird-watching activity.
