From Otter to Otah – The Art of Creating Loveable Animal Characters

In this 1.5 hour workshop, participants will learn how to design animal characters that inspire enduring love and mass appeal, based on animals found in the museum’s William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings.

Learn the secrets to designing animal characters that inspire enduring love and mass appeal.

 

Led by Khor Kexin, the Creative Director of El Masnou (the company behind Otah & Friends), you’ll be guided to create your own original and unique character inspired by the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings.

 

Through this, you can look forward to exploring the depths of imaginative storytelling and illustration techniques to create characters that are unique, meaningful, and irresistible. Open to any skill level. Beginners are welcomed.

 

About Khor Ke Xin, El Masnou

Ke Xin is a self-taught visual artist and illustrator based in Singapore. Her body of work ranges from digital and traditional illustrations to large-scale murals and immersive installations. She is also the Co-founder and Creative Director of El Masnou, driving design for today’s family entertainment at Otah & Friends.

 

About Singapore HeritageFest at National Museum

Through the use of its level 2 galleries and the natural history collection, the museum will feature travellers’ stories through time, Singapore’s natural heritage and will also take participants on a tour of Fort Canning Hill and possibly, Hotel Fort Canning.

 

The museum’s programmes will seek to provide opportunities for inter-generational conversations and creation of memorable experiences, through collaborations and ground-up initiatives with businesses and partners within the vicinity.
